The Art of Practical Coaching and Discipline without Punishment

Ethical management and leadership practices are moral imperatives in the workplace. It is more important than ever today for everyone in the organization to perform at his/her highest capacity, and effective managers and leaders can create a healthy environment where employees can achieve this objective. Organizations are faced with increased competition, new markets, competitors from global environments, new and updated technologies, demanding and knowledgeable customers, and at times fewer technically educated and skilled workers. This course is not only designed to help professionals become aware of the foundational building blocks of management and leadership practices in the workforce, but also to give participants some of the skills needed to effectively coach and discipline employees toward maximum productivity.

Workshop objectives:

This session is designed to be interactive so participants can learn and compare best practices from one another as well as from the program facilitator(s). The objectives of coaching and disciplining employees through effective management and leadership practices are to:

  1. Define and discuss the four functions of management.
  2. Clarify and use the four styles of situational leadership.
  3. Understand the art of coaching employees toward better performance.
  4. Master the art of discipline without punishment.
  5. Know and implement a progressive disciplining process to correct employee misconducts and work-related problems.
  6. Make fact-based decisions when disciplining employees.
  7. Create a work environment where all individuals can contribute.

This is an interactive workshop which will require everyone to complete relevant exercises for discussion and group activities.
